The Future Internet Graduate School (FIGS) is a new doctoral programme funded by the Academy of Finland for the period 1.1.2010-31.12.2013. It is a joint venture of Aalto University, University of Helsinki, and Tampere University of Technology. The Directors of FIGS are Professor Jussi Kangasharju from University of Helsinki, Department of Computer Science and Jörg Ott from School of Electrical Engineering at Aalto University.

13.06.2012: List of FIGS Students is updated.

13.3.2012: Call for applications 2012 is CLOSED. The applicants will be kept updated.

16.2.2012: The Call for Applications 2012 is openned (FIGS Call for Apps 2012.pdf). Five funded positions will be openned for application, from 1.5.2012 until 31.12.2013 maximum. Also applications for unfunded positions can be applied. The call for applications is closed 12.3.2012.

31.10.2010: The Call was closed. 32 applications were received.

8.10.2010: The second Call of Applications 2011 was opened on 8.10.2010 and will close on 31.10.2010. The call will follow a similar procedure as the first one, as explained in the menu choice Applications.

3.10.2010: The Call of Applications 2011 for new students desiring to join FIGS from 1.1.2011 will be opened shortly. The deadline of applications will be 31.10.2010.

4.12.2009: The extended Board of FIGS has processed the applications submitted to the first call, and selected the first students of FIGS for the term starting on 1.1.2010. The selected students are listed on the Students page.

27.9.2009: The application procedure has been streamlined.

16.10.2009: The first Call of Applications for FIGS was opened on 1.9.2009. See the menu choice Applications for more detail on the fully Web-based application procedure. The call was closed on 16.10.2009. 34 applications were received, one of which was later recalled.

1.11.2009: The assignment of application to reviewers was completed and the review process launched.
